In a desperate attempt to attract more readers (and to be silly with friends on other blogs), I am now writing up a recipe.
Yes, I’m putting it here, on a knitting blog. Deal with it. If you can’t deal with it, wash a needle really well and use it to stir. I recommend using the 8mm or larger, 14″ if you’ve got it.
LopsyLi’s Delicious Crab Dip
- 1 lb fresh (or fairly recently canned, but NOT frozen) crab meat
- 8 oz cream cheese (yep, that’s the whole container), to room temp
- 1/2 onion (more or less to taste.), grated or finely chopped
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (don’t sneak any before you start, or there won’t be enough! Maybe you should get a second bag, just in case)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (that’s right, “mayo” has 2 Ns)
- Tobasco sauce (to taste–taste-testing recommended)
- Worcestershire sauce (to taste–taste-testing recommended)
- Old Bay Seasoning (to taste–taste-testing recommended)
- salt/pepper (to taste–taste-testing recommended)
- your favorite spices/seasonings (to taste–taste-testing recommended)
Once the cream cheese is to room temp and any ice that mysteriously formed on your crab meat in the freezer is thawed, mix everything up in a big bowl. Shoo cat frequently. Put it back in the fridge for a while. Devour with crackers. Serves as many as you are actually willing to share with, up to about 5 or so. I suggest having it between you and one very good friend, so you can do this two or three times. But that’s just me.
Man, now I’m hungry again.
This is a fairly decent dorm recipe–all you need is the fridge space, a bowl, two forks (to mix with), and some kind of covering for the bowl.
YUM sounds delicious! Will have to post my Tuna Dip recipe…
